Contradictions and Challenges Can Lead to Our Progress
There are certain events that happen in our lives which, at first glance, may seem unpleasant, difficult, and even unbearable; however, if we have a positive perspective, we can realize that many of these events can be a stage toward achieving our desires and making progress.
All human beings encounter contradictions and challenges throughout their lives. People who have a positive outlook on life try to find positive points and opportunities for growth within every challenge. Instead of only looking at the problem, they ask themselves:
“What does this event want to teach me? What new opportunity could exist within this challenge?”
Many of humanity’s advancements have been created by people who encountered circumstances in their lives that they did not want, but instead of surrendering, they focused on what they wanted and found a new path to achieve it.
When Do We Make Progress?
We can use life’s challenges for our growth when we understand that the existence of contradictions and different desires is part of the nature of life.
Sometimes an unpleasant event causes us to understand exactly what we do not want and, as a result, better understand what we do want.
In other words, sometimes the things we do not want clarify the path toward the things we want.
When a person faces an undesirable situation, they can choose to become only sad, hopeless, and angry, or they can ask themselves:
“Now that this has happened, what do I want? And what step can I take to achieve it?”
People who have a positive outlook can transform unpleasant events in their lives into opportunities for learning, growth, personality development, and even building a better future.
My First Experience: A Challenge That Changed the Path of My Immigration
One of my personal experiences relates to the time when I was studying for my PhD in Malaysia.
After my daughter completed her studies and toward the end of my own studies, we were not given a visa to remain in Malaysia.
At first, this was a very important challenge for us. I could have simply become upset and thought, “Why did this happen to me?” But my perspective was different.
I thought to myself:
“Perhaps this event is going to open a new path in my life.”
Therefore, instead of surrendering, I began thinking about immigrating to the United States and considering the steps we could take to achieve this goal.
Along the way, many problems and obstacles arose for both my daughter and me. Many circumstances appeared to indicate that we might not succeed, but we did not surrender.
We maintained our hope and remained focused on our goal.
Finally, with God’s grace and through our own efforts, we succeeded in obtaining U.S. visas.
Now, when I look back, I realize that if that challenge had not occurred in Malaysia, perhaps we would still be in Malaysia and would never have entered the new path that we have experienced today.
Therefore, the same event that initially appeared to be a major problem could become a gateway to a new stage of life.
My Second Experience: A Challenge That Changed the Path of My Health and Life Mission
Another very valuable experience that I had in my own life relates to the year 2023.
That year, I faced a severe skin-related challenge; a very difficult and unfamiliar condition that affected my life.
But alongside this major contradiction, I had one very important thing:
Faith in God.
I maintained my peace of mind to a great extent and did not lose hope. I believed that God could create a lesson and a new path for me from within this situation.
I prayed day and night and wrote more gratitude than ever before. I tried, instead of constantly focusing on fear and the problem, to maintain a positive image of my health in my mind.
This experience caused my perspective on health and lifestyle to change deeply.
I realized that I had an unhealthy diet and lifestyle; something that, like many people, I might have continued for years if that challenge had not happened to me.
This experience led me to pursue a new path in the field of health and later develop it through the teachings and program that I call “The Law of Health Forever.”
Today, my goal is to share my experiences and what I have learned with others and to help people gain greater awareness about lifestyle and caring for their bodies.
If that challenge had not happened, perhaps I would never have paid such deep attention to the subject of health and lifestyle.
Therefore, an event that initially appeared to be a major contradiction in my life became a turning point for change, awareness, and finding a new path in life.
Of course, every illness or physical challenge is a serious matter and should not be ignored; however, from the perspective of mindset, even in difficult circumstances, we can look for meaning, learning, and opportunities for growth.
My Third Experience: An Apparently Financial Failure Through Which I Found My True Career Path
About four years ago, through one of my friends, I met a person who claimed to have a PhD in agriculture and said that he was working on recruiting workers for Australia.
Without doing enough research or seeking sufficient advice, I started attracting clients.
People were paying me large amounts of money, even more than $10,000, and I also, with complete trust, paid the clients’ money to my business partner.
But later, I discovered that all of those claims were not real.
He took my money and my clients’ money and disappeared, and this situation created a very large financial challenge and debt for me.
This situation could have completely discouraged me.
But once again, I maintained my faith in God.
During that period, I wrote more gratitude than ever before and worked on my personality, awareness, and personal growth.
At the beginning of this challenge, the situation was very difficult for me; however, very quickly, I tried to change my perspective.
Instead of simply saying:
“Why did this happen to me?”
I asked myself:
“What can I learn from this experience? Which new path is this experience going to guide me toward?”
Contrary to the expectations of many people, and even my own family, I was able to overcome this situation.
But more important than overcoming the financial problem, something else happened to me:
I entered a professional and career path that I feel I truly love and that I feel I was born to pursue.
Now, if that challenge had not happened, perhaps I would have remained in the immigration-related career path; a path that I eventually realized was not my true interest or life mission.
Therefore, a major financial failure ultimately helped me find a more authentic path in my life.
Challenges Will Always Lead to Our Progress If We Are Grateful That They Occurred
Sometimes we imagine that every unpleasant event is a sign of bad luck or the end of the road.
But perhaps we need to change our perspective.
Sometimes one door closes so that we are forced to find another door.
Sometimes one job disappears so that we can find a more suitable career.
Sometimes a relationship ends so that we have an opportunity to grow and understand ourselves better.
Sometimes a financial failure causes us to learn new skills.
And sometimes a major problem helps us understand what truly matters to us.
Of course, this does not mean that we should make every difficult event seem simple or insignificant. Pain and problems in life are real, and they must be handled with awareness and responsibility.
But what can change our destiny is our attitude toward that event.
Ask Yourself an Important Question
When you face a challenge, instead of asking only:
“Why did this happen to me?”
Ask yourself this question as well:
“What can this event teach me?”
Then ask yourself:
“Now that this situation has happened, what do I truly want?”
And finally:
“What small step can I take today to achieve that desire?”
This way of thinking can move our minds away from a victim mentality and toward responsibility, growth, and building our future.
Conclusion
Today, when I look at my life, I see that many of the challenges I once feared ultimately caused me to reach a new stage of my life.
The challenge in Malaysia showed me a new path.
The health challenge changed my perspective on lifestyle and health.
And the financial challenge caused me to seriously pursue the career path I truly love.
Therefore, although we may not always be able to choose the events of our lives, we can choose how we look at them and how we respond to them.
If we see only the problem within a challenge, we may become hopeless.
But if, alongside the problem, we also see the opportunity, lesson, growth, and new path, that same challenge can become a stepping stone toward our success.
So whenever you face a contradiction or challenge in your life, remember:
Challenges are the beginning of a new stage.
Challenges may stop some of us, but they can also make us stronger, more aware, and more successful; the choice is in our perspective.
And I have learned from my own life experience:
The greatest progress in our lives always begins exactly where we thought everything had come to an end.
