How Much Does Your Motivation Depend on How Your Spouse or Partner Treats You?
If you put on makeup, colored your hair, and prepared a delicious meal, but your spouse is not paying attention to you and you feel extremely unworthy, is this healthy for you?
It is healthy and completely natural for your spouse to appreciate you and pay attention to you. However, if your spouse does not know how to do this or does not do it, should your happiness and your good feelings disappear?
If you expect your spouse to constantly tell you, “I love you,” compliment you, and you repeatedly ask for their attention, this means that you are begging for love.
But when you value yourself, show yourself love, buy yourself gifts, and become strong from within, you may find that, without asking for it, your sense of self-worth can influence the way your spouse sees you as a strong person and can lead to greater attention and appreciation.
How Much Courage Do You Have to Express Your Own Opinion Where It Is Necessary?
If you cannot do this, it may mean that you do not value yourself and your own point of view enough.
I was extremely weak in this area. I was afraid of not being accepted or approved by my colleagues or my spouse, so I remained silent.
But now I express my opinions in front of millions of people, and it does not matter to me whether they approve of me or not.
This means growth in self-worth and self-confidence.
Why?
Because I believe in what I say, and I have tested it in my own life.
But if I do not have strong knowledge about a particular subject, I say:
“I have no opinion about this.”
How do you act in this situation?
Are you afraid to express your own point of view, or do you have the courage to express your thoughts and opinions respectfully?
Are You Someone Who Follows Fashion Rather Than Your Own Comfort and Well-Being?
This can be a sign of low self-worth.
My experience in this area was that even during pregnancy, I wore high-heeled shoes to look more beautiful.
I removed all of my body hair so that I could use a hair color that my husband would enjoy—not for myself and not for my own health—because I did not value myself at all.
How Well Can You Be Kind to Yourself When You Make a Big or Small Mistake?
Can you love yourself and, even when everyone else is blaming you, forgive yourself with love, learn from your mistake, and move forward?
Many people are waiting for someone outside themselves to tell them:
“You are okay.”
If you make a mistake, do you only forgive yourself after someone else tells you that you are okay?
Do You Always Answer Your Phone Immediately?
Many people answer their phones immediately because they are afraid that their friend will become upset with them.
Even when they do not have time, they put pressure on themselves to answer.
This can be a sign that you are not giving enough value to your own time, needs, and boundaries.
Practical Exercise
Write down:
What decision are you going to make to work more on your sense of self-worth?
What is your current level of self-worth?
Look honestly at your answer.
Do you value yourself?
Can you love yourself without constantly needing approval from others?
Can you express your opinion respectfully?
Can you say “no” when necessary?
Can you forgive your own mistakes and learn from them?
These questions can help you understand where you currently stand in terms of self-worth and take practical steps toward developing it.
